Equine-Assisted Services

We offer both an Adaptive (formerly called Therapeutic) and Recreational Equestrian program. These programs provide participants with both riding and horsemanship experiences in a fully integrated format.  Designed for individuals of all abilities, this program combines equine-assisted activities that focus on both riding skills and horse care, with personal goals and outcomes.

  • Each 45-minute lesson offers opportunities for participants to gain experience in both mounted and unmounted activities. Participants develop riding skills such as balance and coordination and important aspects of horse care, including grooming, feeding, and stable management. Lessons are tailored to each participant’s individual needs and goals, ensuring a personalized experience that supports growth at their own pace. 

    These experiences not only promote physical, cognitive, and emotional growth but also help participants build meaningful relationships with the horses, fostering trust and empathy. Participants work in a safe, supportive environment that encourages confidence and skill development, both in and out of the saddle.  

  • This program is for those who want to be part of our inclusive community and priority for these lessons slots are given to those individuals. Click here for some examples of how we hope our riders might want to get involved after a month or two of riding at BINA.

  • We offer private and group lessons. Our team will determine which is the best option when we have a consultation and evaluation of every participant.

  • An initial consultation and evaluation is required of all potential participants. To support the health and well-being of our equine partners, we do have balanced rider weight limits pending on our herd’s abilities.

Horsemanship

This unmounted group program is intended for all participants who would like to learn more about horse care. Horsemanship is a general term for the care of the horse. Participants will learn about all aspects of horse care, from grooming, mucking, feeding, and so much more!  The unmounted caring for a horse is extremely important for their overall wellbeing and is excellent for teaching the life skills that come from caring for animals. 

  • This is a great introduction to our equine-assisted services program. Each 45-minute lesson offers opportunities for participants to gain experience unmounted activities. Participants learn about all aspects of horse care, including grooming, feeding, and stable management. Lessons are tailored to each participant’s individual needs and goals, ensuring a personalized experience that supports growth at their own pace. 

    These experiences not only promote physical, cognitive, and emotional growth but also help participants build meaningful relationships with the horses, fostering trust and empathy. Participants work in a safe, supportive environment that encourages confidence and skill development on the ground.

  • Each week there is a dynamic lesson from a variety of topics, including but limited to:

    • Safety  

    • Anatomy and grooming 

    • Colors, markings and breeds 

    • Grain, forage and making food 

    • Leading, obstacle course  

    • Lunging, free lunging, natural horsemanship and lunging equipment 

    • Horse health and wellness, emergency care  

    • Barn Management, paddock picking and stalls, hay and water 

Vacation & Summer Specialty Programs

These inclusive programs are open to all abilities and skill levels, and designed for those that would like to get in the saddle!

Participants will take part in daily group horseback riding and horsemanship classes, as well as other activities such as arts & crafts and games.

  • YES! Vacation and Summer Specialty Programs fill up quickly. Follow us on social media to learn when registration opens. We recommend registering as soon as dates and details are released.

  • Yes, all participants will need to wear an ASTM/SEI certified helmet; we encourage purchasing your own. Depending on individual sizing and availability, helmets are on-site for borrow each day.   • Our Summer Specialty Program, Horsing Around, has seven weeks available for scheduling. This program fills up fast! Registration opens March 24th. Participants may sign up for a maximum of two weeks.

    1. Monday, July 7th - Thursday, July 10th for ages 6 - 9.

    2. Monday, July 14th - Thursday, July 17th for ages 10 - 14.

    3. Monday, July 21st - Thursday July 24th for ages 6 - 9.

    4. Monday, July 28th - Thursday, July 31st for ages 10 - 14.

    5. Monday, August 4th - Thursday, August 7th for ages 6 - 9.

    6. Monday, August 11th - Thursday, August 14th for ages 10 - 14.

    7. Monday, August 18th - Thursday, August 21st for ages 6 - 9.
